I don’t know about you, but I want to know how is it already the end of the school year? I feel like I just sent my kids off to school yesterday (after several weeks of delays thanks to Hurricane Laura).
Thankfully, summer 2021 shouldn’t feel near as long as summer 2020 did (you know, because that one started in March when they closed school due to covid).
But, even though it’s not like last year, it’s still going to feel like a very long ten weeks before their little butts return to the classroom and I’m back to my quiet(ish) days at home with my preschooler.
I currently have no summer plans (does anyone). We might make a trip to visit family, but who knows exactly when that will happen. With my husband’s job situation still up in the air, we can’t make any concrete plans – which is honestly a little frustrating.
It is what it is.
For right now, though, I’m just trying to savor the last few days of quiet before my kids complain non-stop about how bored they are (*eye roll*).
And because I know all too well how stressful summer can be for stay-at-home-moms with school-age kids, I figured I’d put together a brief summer series for you.
I’m calling it “How to Keep Cool When Life Heats Up” and the series will be comprised of this introduction post followed by five posts published every other week for the next ten weeks.
Why I’m switching to bi-weekly posts for the summer months
Like many of you, time becomes an issue during the summer months as my attention suddenly gets pulled and stretched in all different directions. Therefore, instead of continuing my pace of publishing once per week, posting every other week will give me more time between posts to properly construct my (interrupted) thoughts.
Plus, this gives you more time to read and digest each post in the series since I’m sure you’ll be crunched for time as well.

What will the summer series be about?
Each post in the “How to Keep Cool When Life Heats Up” summer series will offer tips to help you cool down mentally from the stress you might feel when you’re under extra stress.
It’s not about parenting – it’s about taking care of yourself to help you manage stress when life gets … well, harder. I believe that when we take care of ourselves, the parenting part becomes easier.
The tips are applicable not only during the stressful summer months at home with your kids, but also during anytime you find yourself in a season when life becomes stressful (moving, job change, life events, etc.).
Who will benefit most from the series?
I think the series is great for any mom who is open to receiving input about how to navigate stressful times. As a mom of four, that’s the perspective and experience that I have and am coming from when I put together my posts. However, the tips can also apply to anyone who is having a hard time.
Who will NOT benefit from the series?
If you are experiencing feelings of depression or suicide, please seek help from a licensed medical professional. What will be the topic of the first post in the series?
On June 8th, the first post in this summer series will discuss one of my favorites: mindset and why I feel it’s a critical factor in helping moms manage stressful times. Because I want all of my readers to succeed with mastering stress, I wanted to begin by talking about the mindset shifts you should make whenever you find yourself facing stressful times.
From my own experience, without first establishing a proper mindset, you’re less likely to succeed at creating a sense of calm within the storm.
